DEMENTIA IN NEW LIGHT—

Shifting the stigma surrounding dementia

Dementia is a cognitive condition that affects millions of people worldwide and is often accompanied by stigma and misconceptions. Dementia in New Light is a digital educational experience designed to reshape societal perceptions and reduce the stigma associated with dementia. Inspired by the theatre production Cracked: New Light on Dementia, this web-based educational tool aims to deepen understanding and empathy through an immersive learning environment.

The project involved extensive discovery sessions with educators, care professionals and individuals affected by dementia, resulting in a detailed research report that highlighted its emotional impacts and daily realities. This comprehensive report provided a solid foundation for the design and content direction of this impactful educational experience.

The resulting Dementia in New Light website experience allows learners to explore the culture, stigma and future care possibilities related to dementia. Through storytelling, audio-visual elements and interactive modules, it fosters personal reflection and deeper understanding. The goal is to educate others on reducing stigma and to inspire efforts toward creating a better world for those living with dementia.
